Governance

Bright Stars Directors

Yealmpstone Farm Primary school established Bright Stars Nursery & Wrap Around Care to support the community and meet the needs for child care. We have a single governing body that helps to ensure the very best education and care for our children and families. They act as directors for Bright Stars and consider each area of the business alongside the business of the school.

THE ROLE OF THE DIRECTORS

All schools must have a governing body as required by government regulations.  It is made up of parents, representatives from the local community and members of the School staff.  All members give their time voluntarily and also support the strategic direction of Bright Stars Plymouth CIC as a business entity for the local community.

Our aim is to assist in ensuring Bright Stars provide the best care and early years education for your children and also a complete wrap around care for school-aged children.  We are responsible for the recruitment of staff, approving policies and supporting the implementation of the plans set out by our staff to aid the teaching and learning of our children.

The Directors welcomes feedback from the nursery's families. As parents and carers you are welcome to raise any issues or concerns through your Parent Governor representatives, who you can contact through our school’s administrator.

HOW OFTEN ARE THE MEETINGS?

The full governing body meets regularly throughout the academic year to hear reports from the CEO, Headteacher and her staff on the school & nursery performance. We question, discuss and refine any proposals. In addition to this, the Finance and Premises Committee also meets 3 times a year.

THE FINANCE AND PREMISES COMMITTEE

The aim of the Finance and Premises Committee is to assist the CEO & Headteacher with the detail of the financial aspects of the overall "Strategic Plan". The committee is also responsible for monitoring the condition of the premises and ensuring that any plans for developing the physical space are considered in line with the values and aims of the IDEAL Alliance.
