    Our Foundation Class

In Foundation, children embark on a vibrant learning journey through six exciting topics: All About Me, Celebrations, Traditional Tales, People Who Help Us, Transport, and Animals. These themes offer something engaging for every learner, sparking curiosity and building early connections to the world around them. Our approach is rooted in exploration-based learning, where children are encouraged to create, build, and link knowledge in meaningful ways.

Our provision is thoughtfully planned around the seven areas of development: Communication and Language, Physical Development, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design. These areas form the foundation of a rich and balanced curriculum that is guided by the children’s own interests and informed by their individual challenge points.

We place a strong emphasis on outdoor learning, recognising its importance in supporting development. Children take part in weekly Forest School sessions, enjoy daily access to outdoor spaces, and engage in hands-on experiences that foster resilience, problem-solving, and teamwork.

We also value building strong relationships with families. Parents are regularly invited to take part in special events such as a cream tea afternoon, ‘Teacher for the Day’ activities, and Forest School sessions. These shared experiences help to strengthen the home-school connection and allow families to be part of their child’s early learning journey. Our Foundation stage offers a nurturing, dynamic, and inclusive environment where every child is encouraged to thrive and grow.
