Welcome to Year 1!

We currently have two classes within Year 1, Apatosaurus and Brontosaurus. Apatosaurus is taught by Miss Whiteley and supported by Mrs Jones. Brontosaurus is taught by Miss Alford and Miss Shaw, the class is supported by Miss Chapman and Miss Boroczsky. 

In Year 1, we begin the Autumn term by exploring our school and local area, using maps and geographical language. We then travel back in time to the Mayflower voyage, linking the past and present. In the Spring term, we tackle the big question 'How do we know what it is like in space?' We learn about a variety of significant figures in space, exploring their achievements and how they helped shape our understanding of the universe. Finally, in the Summer term we explore coastlines by identifying their human and physical features, such as beaches, cliffs, harbours, and ports.
