At YFPS, we are proud to be a fully inclusive school that values every child as an individual. We are committed to ensuring that all pupils—regardless of need—are given the support, encouragement, and opportunities they need to thrive.
Our experienced SEND team works closely with a wide range of external professionals to identify and implement tailored strategies that support the unique needs of each child. We nurture every pupil to be the best they can be, adapting teaching and learning so it is accessible, engaging, and ambitious for all.
Inclusion is at the heart of our ethos, and we believe all children can achieve when they feel understood, supported, and valued. We use regular, meaningful assessments to monitor progress against Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and hold Team Around Me (TAM) meetings with parents and carers to ensure that support remains closely aligned with each child’s evolving needs.
For a small number of children with more complex needs, an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) is in place to secure the additional resources and support required to help them succeed.
At YFPS, we are committed to working closely with families to provide the right support at the right time. For families who may need additional support, we offer Early Help Assessment Tool (EHAT) plans, enabling us to work in partnership with external agencies and ensure a joined-up approach to meeting wider needs.
Inclusion is central to life at YFPS. We want every child to feel they belong and are supported to reach their full potential.
At YFPS, we plan carefully to ensure all pupils have access to all aspects of school life. The building is well designed to allow access arrangements for all. Our curriculum is designed to ensure pupils see role models from all groups of people and promotes diversity and inclusion. Our staff have well developed access strategies to support children in reaching their full potential. Resources are adapted so that all pupils can access learning. Our school council collect the views from their class members and this feeds into school improvement work. The children are very aware of each others needs within the class and are very supportive.
At Yealmpstone Farm, we believe that every teacher is a teacher of SEND and that supporting children with additional needs is the responsibility of all staff. Our commitment to inclusion runs through everything we do, and every member of our team plays a part in ensuring that children with SEND feel valued, supported, and able to succeed.
Alongside our whole-school approach, we have a SEND team who lead, coordinate, and champion inclusive practice across our school.

Plymouth Parent Carer Voice (PPCV) is a group of local parents and carers of children with SEND who work together to make sure families have a say in the services they use. They work with the council and other organisations to help improve education, health, and care services for SEND families.
This guide sets out the rights of children with SEND and how schools, councils, and families work together to meet their needs.
